The Age of the Re-Release

Every time you turn around, you hear about some artist re-releasing their CD.

WTF?! And people wonder why the music industry is struggling so much! Artists should make their CDs good enough the first time around, without having all these addendums. What about the loyal fans who rush out on Tuesdays to actually buy their favorite artist's CD, only to hear a few months later that they are expected to go pay $10 for the same CD that's supposed to be slightly better this time--which it usually isn't!

They get a hott producer like Polow, Danja, etc., or a big name rapper to collaborate with, hit the studio and record a single that's supposed to blow your mind away. Then they throw in 2 extra sleeper songs that didn't make the original album for a reason, a DVD with some videos that you can watch on YouTube all day if you really like them that much, live concert performances and backstage footage, (who ever even watches the DVDs that come with CDs?) and you're expected to run out and buy the "Deluxe/Exclusive/Reloaded" version of their CD.

The bottom line: Artists need to step their game up. Stop bitching about people not buying your CDs and actually take the time to make a good one. People buy music they like. (i.e: Kanye West's "Graduation"). Now you try.

Anyone who would spend a nickle supporting Chris Brown after he beat up his girlfriend has a few screws loose anyway.
