The Best Movies of 2008

The end of 2008 is right around the corner, so The Insomniac Zone is starting it's Best of 08

lists. Here are the best movies that I've seen thus far:

1. The Dark Knight

Duh...of course this is the best movie of 2008. Heath Ledger as the Joker was incredible, the making of Two Face into a villain was entertaining and Batman was alright too, lol.

2. Iron Man

Robert Downey Jr. made Iron Man one of the coolest superheroes (right after a whole bunch of X-Men characters, Superman and Batman) ever. I can't wait until the sequel comes out!

3. The Strangers

This was by far one of the scariest movies I've seen in a while, probably because things like this can really happen. I was literally scared to walk into an empty room without turning a light on first for a few days after I watched the movies--and I don't even scare easily!

4. Let the Right One In

There is just something about this movie that makes it very moving. It's like "Twilight" for people who think they are too good for "Twilight", lol.

5. The Fall

This indie flick was both visually pleasing and creative--not to mention exceedingly hilarious.

6. Wanted

Assassins, action packed fights and car chases, curving bullets, Angelina Jolie smirking the entire movie, and the Fight Clubish feel of this movie makes it a great thrill ride.

7. Twilight

I'm pretty sure you didn't have to read the books in order to enjoy the movie since the movie stayed pretty true to the book. The romance between Bella and Edward was great and the movie had a lot of unintentionally funny moments to it.

8. Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist

This movie is all about one crazy night on the Lower East Side of New York, music and clever one liners from Michael Cera and Kat Dennings. Good times!

9. How to Lose Friends and Alienate People

I don't know why I really didn't hear any thing about this movie, but I thought it was pretty hilarious. Simon Pegg in an American movie? I laughed all through it. Oh yeah...and Megan Fox is in it too!

10. Cloverfield

I think the idea to create an American version of Godzilla then have people experience the attacks via a shaky personal cam was pretty clever--not too scary, but very suspenseful.

Honorable Mention: Be Kind Rewind, The Secret Life of Bees

What were your favorite movies of 08?

The Strangers made the list, even with that TERRIBLE ending??? Ahhhhh! LOL. I'm surprised you didn't have Sex and The City up there....

But I agree with Dark Knight, Iron Man, Wanted, Cloverfield...I would also add in Quantum of Solace, The Hulk, and possibly Vantage Point.

...but I like funny movies so I also enjoyed Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Pineapple Express, Four Christmases, and Zack and Miri Make A Porno.

I thought the ending was different! Did you really think that they were just gonna get merked out like that?! And believe it or no, I'm like the only woman in the world who chose to go see the Strangers instead of Sex and the City, lol.

I need to step my movie game up in 09 becuz I haven't seen any of the movies you mentioned, lol.

lol no way Cloverfield sucked as much as Quarantine. You should have checked out the original Spanish version, it was a lot better.
