What I'm Reading: Cormac McCarthy's The Road

The Road is a post-apocalyptic tale of a journey taken by a father and his young son over a period of several months, across a landscape blasted by an unnamed cataclysm that destroyed all civilization and, apparently, most life on earth.

also wrote No Country For Old Men and is considered to be one of the greatest American novelist of his times.

I am about half way through the book and would definitely recommend everyone to read it. It's sad, intense, thought provoking yet exciting. If you need any further encouragement...the book won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 2007 and has even made it onto Oprah's Book Club. It's also being turned into a movie starring Viggo Mortensen, Guy Pearce and Charlize Theron, which will be in theaters October 16, 2009. Here's the trailer:
